How does God speak to you and or get your attention? How do you know when God is speaking to you? Do you always obey His voice? I often hear comments from people saying, “God told me …, or the Lord said to me…., and I have often wondered how they knew that it was God. Because the Devil is a master counterfeiter and when a person’s life does not line up with the Word of God, it makes you wonder who are they really hearing. Knowing this should heighten our concern and awareness of our certainty of hearing the voice of God.
QUESTIONS! Have you ever wondered; how does God speaks to His Children? How do you know God is speaking to you? We MUST Remember, His VOICE Will NEVER VIOLATE HIS WORD!
Over the past few years, God has impressed upon me to develop ministry centered around the biblical concept and construct of “Karios” which I came across as I was writing my Master’s Thesis in preparation for graduation from Seminary. It is certainly not a new concept, just mostly unfamiliar in application to mainstream Christianity. This biblical concept simply fascinated me and the seed was planted in my heart in 2004 and nurtured. It presented itself again in 2014 as I was writing my first book, ‘Every Beat of My Heart’. It continued to germinate and grow and in 2020 while participating in an anthology project, God spoke clearly to me as to what He wanted me to do. To be honest, I was committed to what I was already doing; however, I obeyed God, a new ministry was birthed to assist Women of Faith in living Kairotically (a life that is shaped by the will of God), and a new website started September 2020.
What is Kairos and why is Kairos such an important biblical concept in relation to hearing from God? Biblically, Kairos is a special or chosen time, a defining moment. It’s God’s time, powerful and right, fixed by God Himself to be used for His purpose. God designs Kairos Moments – an opportune time, His time when He speaks to us. He gets our attention for a divine purpose – His purpose. He speaks, we must respond and obey, never to miss God’s best for our lives. This can be a time of transformation, renewal, and reflection, changing the trajectory of our lives, FOREVER!
What does the Bible say about Kairos (Revised Standard Version)
Mark 1:14-15 – “the time” (is fulfilled)
Luke 12:54-56 – “the present time”. It is critical to recognize it, for if you allow it to pass the loss will be immeasurable.
Luke 19:44 – “the time” (of your visitation from God)
Romans 13:11-13 – “the time ~ the moment” It calls for action, conversion, and transformation—a change of life.
2 Corinthians 6:1-2 – “the acceptable time” Kairos is not just crisis but opportunity and favour. God assists us in discerning the kairos—a moment of grace.
God desires an intimate relationship with us. He wants to speak to us much more than we have the desire to listen. Many of us are not sure whether God still speaks or even wants to speak to us. The Prophet Jeremiah says in chapter 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. (ESV). The way God speaks to us progresses as we grow up spiritually. He often speaks to a new Believer in Christ through readings devotionals, conversations, prayer, and meditation on His Word.
The way God speaks is totally dependent on HIM!
RX: A HEARING 
HEART. Isaiah 26:9a “All night long I search for you; in the morning I earnestly seek for God.” (NLT) Our desire to hear God must not be a once in a while thing, we have to develop a relationship with God so as to get accustomed to hearing him. We build this relationship by studying His word, praying regularly, fasting, spending time in His presence, and just waiting on Him. When this becomes a routine, you will begin to hear Him and talk back to Him the way you will do a friend who was seating close to you.
Sin in our lives will keep us from hearing the voice of God!
FATHER GOD: Thank You for our Salvation that positions us to hear from You! We stand amazed at the fact a Holy God desires to talk to us. Father God, HELP us to be sure we are hearing ONLY from YOU!! Help us to be so careful to hear You clearly and OBEY in the Precious, Powerful, and Preeminent Name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, Amen!
