After reading the “Truth Matter” Newsletter from Discernment Ministries International, this month, I immediately reflected on my nursing career and how God has used the human body to teach me many spiritual principles and as DMI stated, “how the Holy Spirit uses the human body as an analogy to expose what is deficient in our walk with Him and all others”.
One of my favorite classes in my Pre-Nursing Curriculum was Anatomy and Physiology! I was captivated by the study of this unique body God created. Any reasonable or God-conscious person knows this magnificent design of the human body could not have just evolved! Early in my 35 plus years of working as a Registered Nurse, and teaching Critical Care Nursing, I would often find myself making the correlation between the physical and the spiritual body!
I was amazed God designed the body to heal itself and shifted blood flow in emergency conditions. I fell in love with the functionality of the physical heart. As Education Director and teaching the physiology of the heart, God showed me how the blockages of the physical heart correlated to the blockages of the spiritual heart – unforgiveness, bitterness, anger, envy, jealousy, and holding grudges blocked the flow of God and His blessing in our lives. This was the thesis of my first book, “Every Beat of My Heart”.

God uses the human body metaphorically throughout the Bible. The manner in which God uses these terms (the parts of our body) like heart, hands, lips, head, mouth, tongue, eyes, ears, feet, knees as relational indicators – good or bad. God uses almost every visible part of our physical bodies as an analogy to correct us as His people!
RX: A HEALED ♥️ HEART: God’s TREATMENT PLAN For A Sick Heart!
- Hard Headedness ~ The visible earthly church is SICK because we are essentially Hard-Headed people! The Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 1:5-6, refers to the whole head is sick and the whole heart is faint. The head includes the eyes, ears, and mouth! I knew you were stubborn; your neck was like an iron muscle, and your head was like bronze. Isaiah 48:4 God choose them and us because of His grace and because He saw our great need. Rx: 2Peter 1:3-11!
- Dull Ears ~ God people became dull of hearing, Hebrews 5:11. Rx-James 1:9 God wants us to pay attention to what He tells us!
- Lying Lips – Lie not one to another! STOP Lying and put it away from you, and speak the truth in Love! Rx: Ephesians 4:25 Colossians 3:9-10!
- Evil Eyes That Wander: If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out! Rx: Matthew 18:9
