“THE HEARTBEAT OF AN INTENTIONAL LIFE”

June 26, 2022

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil.”   Proverbs 3:5-7 (NLT)

The LORD says, “I will make you wise and show you where to go. I will guide you and watch over you.” Psalm 32:8 (NCV)

The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”  Psalm 32:8 (NLT)

Believe it or not, LIFE is short no matter how long we live. Each moment in LIFE is a gift from God. If there is something important and divinely ordained by God, we must do it, and not put it off for a better day. Because life is short, we must not neglect what is truly important.

If living in today’s economic climate hasn’t taught us anything else, it has shown us that the things that were once considered certain are much less reliable. Our pension and retirement plans, job security, and corporate loyalties were more solid, and reliable values 15 or 20 years ago; however, in our current economic crisis, the order of the day for many families is the survival of the fittest. It appears that there are no more certainties. It seems as though there are no answers, only questions.  As Believers in Christ, we can rest in the sovereign rule of God, He is in control no matter what it looks like. He did not ask us to try and make sense of anything, He told us to TRUST HIM!

How Intentional Are You About Your Life’s Journey? Are you living the life God designed for you, or are you doing your own thing? How do you avoid the crashes of life? How do you deal with an undisciplined area in your life? Do you forgive or are you struggling with the poison of unforgiveness and the damage (physically and spiritually) it is causing in your life? Do you truly love others, especially those that are difficult to love? Ask yourself, “If I had only six months to live, what would I do?” What would you do? Would you do what Christ has told you to do, share His gospel with those who do not know HIM? The life representative of a Believer in Christ must be radically different from the life of an unbeliever. If you do not live a life of love and divine purpose, in view of your destiny, nothing you do or say will matter!

I remember an awesome Bible teacher at the United Conference For Women over 30 years ago who said, “We must take the Wasness of the Word of God ~ to the Isness of the Now.” Just take a moment and focus on what is going on NOW and how it parallels with Scripture!  The Word of God written thousands of years ago simply correlates with when we are seeing and living with NOWGod meets us where we are, and He gives us clear instructions on how we are to live no matter what is going on in the world!

As Believers in Christ, we must be intentional about our lives because the true certainty is that our hearts long for, in fact, runs much deeper.  So in an uncertain world, we can know to be intentional! The problem is we think we have time!

My daughter Portia flew out to Seattle Washington for her job yesterday.  I did not want to go to bed until I knew she had arrived safely in view of all the past week’s flight cancellations, shortages of pilots, as well as other crew staff, etc.  Praise God she arrived as scheduled!

How Can We Avoid Crashing On The Flights of Our Lives:

  1. You must have the right Pilot! You will not have a crash in this life if you have God as the pilot of your life and you STOP trying to be in control! God does not need your HELP!  He is God! Trust HIM!
  2. Your Position During The flight Must Be Trusting God with a Surrendered Heart! He can handle ALL of the turbulence during the flight of your life!  Allow HIM full control of your life physically, emotionally, societally, financially, and spiritually! This is so important because when God is in control, you will not waste so much time thinking, talking, and responding to people who don’t matter when it comes to God’s purpose for your life.  Keep your focus on God and His assignment for your life!  He is God! Trust HIM!
  3. Don’t Listen to Your Head. Entertaining your thoughts can take you to some places you do not need to go! Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.  It is not about you or how much you think you know. Your college degree won’t help you here. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, (NOT YOUR HEAD)  And lean not on your own understanding!” Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV).  You simply do not know enough! He is God! Trust HIM!

A SURRENDERED HEART! In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:6 (NKJV)  Living Intentionally is living a surrendered life allowing God to be in control of your heart so you will not crash!  He never promised a turbulence-free flight, but He did promise a sure flight.  Stand on the Promises of God! When He is the pilot and you surrender your (heart) life to Him He will assure you a safe and sure flight! “In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. God has a way of straightening out every crooked path – just follow HIM!

Portia boarded Alaskan Airlines and upgraded to first-class!  You can get on Divine Airlines today and it is ALWAYS FIRST CLASS with God as the Pilot!

FATHER GOD: Thank You for being the Pilot of our lives.  Help us to always trust You from the bottom of our hearts so we won’t try to figure out everything on our own. Thank You for keeping us on track so we will not crash.  This we ask, in the Precious, Powerful and Preeminent Name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, Amen.
