The Heartbeat Of A Wise Mother

“Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.”

My mother went home to be with the Lord over 45 years ago. She passed away from a rare disease and not much was known about it at the time. I was a young nurse and I remember asking a couple of the physicians I worked with, and they knew little about her rare disease. There was less than a page of information in the medical books and we did not have the internet at that time.

During my years as a young mother, I would have loved to have had the opportunity to just sit and talk with my mother about some of the challenges I faced. We as children had a wonderful father to talk to, however, nothing can replace the opportunity to have a mother’s perspective. God is so faithful, and we were blessed to have an awesome grandmother who we lovingly called “Big Mama” She was so full of wisdom, and I was blessed to spend time with her when I visited her and when she would come and spent time with my younger brothers and sisters. She was the greatest and God’s gift to us as children!

The Word of God never says that every woman should be a mother. However, it does say that those whom the Lord blesses to be mothers should take the responsibility seriously. Mothers have a unique and vital role in the lives of their children. Being a mother is not a chore or unpleasant duty. Just as a mother carries her child during pregnancy, and just as she feeds and cares for a child during infancy, mothers also play a continuing role in the lives of their children. It does not matter whether they are adolescents, teenagers, young adults, or even adults with children of their own, being a mother is a never-ending responsibility. While the role of motherhood must change and develop, the love, care, nurture, and encouragement a mother gives should never cease.

Only God gives godly mothers and grandmothers wisdom! A wise mother loves and prays for her children consistently and unselfishly, wanting what is best for them.

There is nothing like a godly mother, wisdom drips from her lips, and kings and queens are birthed from her womb. Mothers are blessed by God, and without a mother, we would not be here.

Being a mother is a very important and special role that the Lord chooses to give to many women. A Christian mother is told to love her children as noted in Titus 2:4-5, in part so that she does not bring reproach on the Lord and on the Savior whose name she bears.

MOTHER

M–anages the Household – Proverbs 31:27

She set the atmosphere and tone of a home. Proverbs 31:28

She cares for the family members. Proverbs 31:15

She cares for the home. Proverbs 31:18, 19, 21, 24.

O–ptimism – She Remains Hopeful – Romans 15:13

She doesn’t give up on her children. 1 Corinthians 13:7.

She inspires and lifts them to their highest potential. 1 Corinthians 13:13.

Despite adversities and setbacks, she keeps hope. John 16:33.

T–eachers Her Children – Isaiah 28:9, 10

To know the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts16:31.

The right way to live according to God’s Word. Proverbs 22:6.

By the example of her own life. 1 Timothy 4:12.

H–er hands show loving deeds – Proverbs 31:31

They are caring hands.

They are correcting hands.

They are encouraging hands.

E–ndurance To Keep On Keeping On – Galatians 6:9

She trusts the Lord to give her strength. 4-13.

She prays for wisdom and guidance. James 1:5.

She keeps on when there are mountains to climb, valleys to descend, deserts to cross or rivers to forge. 1 Peter 1:7.

R–ewards – 3 John 4

To participate with God in the miracle of birth.

Daily joy the child brings to the mother. (hugs, kisses, etc.)

“Her children rise up and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28a

A Woman of Wisdom is a Blessing to Her Husband and the Children.

A WISE HEART A wise and godly mother is a woman who represents the heartbeat of Christ to her children. She is continually aware of her influence over their lives and futures and makes sacrifices whenever necessary for their welfare. Godly mothers are wise women!
