“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4
“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.” Psalm 68:5

Today, we honor and celebrate fathers! As we acknowledge this special day, reflecting on the biblical significance and The Heartbeat of Fatherhood, we give thanks to God for the fathers who symbolize the biblical principles, striving to lead their families with love, wisdom, and faith. We thank God for those fathers who are connected and committed to their responsibilities of being a godly father.
Blessings to all fathers today and always!

Fatherhood was one of the first jobs God gave men. Immediately after creating Adam and Eve, God commanded them to “be fruitful and multiply” Genesis 1:28. One of His primary purposes for marriage was offspring who would fill the earth with God’s praise and glory.
It’s a day to recognize their contributions, to encourage them in their responsibilities, and celebrate the values of the heartbeat of fatherhood and being godly fathers as depicted in the Word of God. Fathers are called to emulate God’s love, guidance, and provision, setting a foundation of faith and integrity for their families.
As I reflected on Father’s Day this year, I was reminded of a young man that I interviewed on my show nearly 10 years ago. I was referred to him by Linda Hunt who at the time was my administrator for the show. She did an excellent job bringing various guests to my show and one of the guests was Mr. Calvin Mann! https://www.linkedin.com/in/calvin-t-mann-702b8011/. Since meeting him, he has remained committed to being an advocate, encourager, supporter, and mentor to young boys and fathers. When I interviewed him, his organization was “Good Fathers Only.” His current website is https://www.emiyworld.com/.
His work centers on restoring and strengthening the family structure through developing boys and encouraging fathers using prevention and intervention activities.
How would you describe your earthly father or father surrogate? What kind of fathers God is looking for? Providing sperm for conception is merely the beginning of God’s expectation for fathers. Sperm can make a child, but it takes a real man to be a father. Some men who want to be good fathers have little understanding of what is actually and biblically required.
The ultimate example of the Heartbeat of Fatherhood in the Bible, represents God’s unconditional love, guidance, and protection, as noted in Psalms 103:13. The Lord is like a Father to His children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. Also, in Matthew 7:11, we are reminded “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him?
How would you describe your earthly father or father surrogate? What kind of Father is God is looking for?
The Heartbeat of Fatherhood or Godly Fatherhood:
Biological fathers: The natural, genetic parent of a child. Biological fathers play a crucial role in providing genetic traits and potentially inheritable qualities. Their presence often contributes to a child’s sense of identity and belonging.
Adoptive Fathers. Men who legally adopt a child and assume all responsibilities of parenthood. Adoptive fathers provide love, stability, and a sense of permanence. They often go through rigorous processes to ensure they can provide a nurturing environment.
Stepfathers: Men who marry someone with children from a previous relationship. Stepfathers can bring new dynamics into the family. Successful integration often requires patience, understanding, and building trust over time.
Single Fathers: Men who raise their children without a partner, either due to separation, divorce, widowhood, or choice. Single fathers often face unique challenges but also show incredible resilience and dedication. They provide strong examples of independence and resourcefulness.
Stay-at-Home Fathers: Fathers who take on the primary caregiving role while the mother works outside the home. Stay-at-home fathers challenge traditional gender roles and provide nurturing, hands-on parenting. They contribute significantly to their children’s day-to-day development
Absent Fathers: Fathers who are physically or emotionally unavailable due to various reasons such as separation, work commitments, or personal issues. The absence of a father can lead to emotional and financial difficulties for children. It often results in a longing for paternal connection and support. Men who take on a fatherly role in the lives of children who are not their own, such as coaches, teachers, or family friends.
Impact: Mentor fathers provide guidance, support, and positive role modeling. They can significantly influence a child’s development and confidence.
Spiritual Fathers: Religious or community leaders who provide spiritual guidance and support. Spiritual fathers help shape moral and ethical values, offering wisdom and counsel. They often play a vital role in the spiritual growth of their community members.
Father Figures: Men who are not biological fathers but take on a father-like role, such as uncles, grandfathers, or family friends. Father figures can provide emotional support, mentorship, and stability. They often fill gaps left by absent fathers and contribute positively to a child’s upbringing.
Military Fathers: Military fathers demonstrate dedication and sacrifice. Their absences can be challenging, but they often instill values of discipline, patriotism, and resilience in their children. Fathers who serve in the military may spend significant time away from home due to deployments.

FATHER’S HEART
CHALLENGE: According to the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately 19.7 million children, more than 1 in 4, live without a father in the home. What impact do fathers have on their children? Research says that a fatherless home has a direct impact on the following:
- Children from father-absent homes are more likely to experience emotional and behavioral problems. Studies have shown increased rates of aggression, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.
- Children without fathers are more likely to struggle academically. They are twice as likely to drop out of high school, perform poorly in school, and have lower IQ scores.
- There is a strong correlation between father absence and youth delinquency and crime. Boys are more likely to engage in criminal activities, and girls are more likely to experience teen pregnancy.
- Fatherless children are at a higher risk of drug and alcohol abuse. They are more likely to smoke, drink alcohol, and use drugs during adolescence.
A FATHER’S
HEART: A godly father has a godly heart! He understands the Heartbeat of Fatherhood, Characteristics, Roles, and Responsibilities are:
Leadership and Guidance. A father’s role in nurturing and guiding his children in a godly manner. Fathers are called to lead by example and to educate their children in the ways of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4 reminds us, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”
Provision and Protection: Fathers are seen as providers and protectors for their families. This includes not only physical provision but also emotional and spiritual support.1 Timothy 5:8 says, “But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
Character and Integrity: A father’s integrity and righteousness can have a lasting impact on his children. By living a life of integrity, fathers set a powerful example for their children to follow. Proverbs 20:7, “The righteous who walks in his integrity—blessed are his children after him!”
PRAYER: Father God, thank You for Your Word that gives us clear instructions on how fathers can be godly fathers, Let us also remember and pray for those who have lost their fathers or may not have had a positive father figure in their lives, that they may find comfort and strength in You as our Heavenly Father, in the Precious, Powerful, and Preeminent name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, Amen.
