“My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!” Psalms 121:2 (NLT)
“For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. The Lord says, I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you”. Psalms 32:7-8 (NLT)

“My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth” Psalm 121:2. (NLT)
When was the last time you cried “Lord HELP” or was it “LAWD HELP!” Either way, I would venture to say that each one of you has at one time or the other cried for HELP from God. It is usually when we have exhausted all of our human efforts.
As Believers in Christ, we can confidently say, “My help comes from the Lord,” because God keeps and protects His children at all times and in all dangers: “The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever” Psalm 121:7–8. NLT.
Unfortunately, we have the human propensity is to look for help at times in all the wrong places. Before we cry “Lord HELP me” we often attempt to solve our own problems in our own strength or according to the wisdom of the world. Many times, we call our friends and vent to them asking what they would do. We go to others, companions, or a spouse to satisfy the yearning in our souls. Sadly, many often turn to drugs and alcohol to fill the emptiness inside. Others seek success, fulfillment, and self-esteem in their careers with busyness to cope and/or experimenting with everything this world offers. Then when all fails, many turn to God, who has been just waiting to HELP us. We need to cry out to God as the Psalmist did in Psalm 109:26: What we need most of all is to cry out, “Help me, LORD my God; save me according to your unfailing love.”

When my husband Robert went home to be with the Lord reading the Psalms brought me comfort. Psalms 32:7-8 became my anchor. The Psalmist says “For You are my hiding place; You protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” (NLT)
The Word of God has an overflowing account of cries for help from humans in need. Immediately for me, the account of Job comes to mind. Job 30:24-28 says, “Yet does not one in a heap of ruins stretches out his hand, Or in his disaster, therefore, cry out for help? Have I not wept for the one whose life is hard? Was not my soul grieved for the needy? When I expected good, then evil came; When I waited for light, then darkness came. I am seething within and cannot relax; Days of affliction confront me. I go about mourning without comfort; I stand up in the assembly and cry out for help.” (NASB)
Many can relate to Jonah who attempted to do things his way and found himself in desperate need of God’s HELP! He cried out for God from his underwater prison cell inside the belly of a great fish! Jonah 2:1-2 says, “Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the stomach of the fish, and he said, “I called out of my distress to the Lord, And He answered me. I cried for help from the depth of Sheol; You heard my voice.” (NASB)
Our Mutual Need and Human Call For HELP Is Proof That We Need a Savior. We are born lost in our sins. The Apostle Paul penned in Romans 3:23 reminding us “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Deep inside, we know we cannot save ourselves. Our hearts cry out to God to HELP us! The Prophet Isaiah also reminded us in Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that he does not hear.” Also, within the soul of every person, God has placed an awareness of lack, of needing something more, an internal, eternal longing. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. Redeem us for the sake of your steadfast love!” Psalm 44:26.
The Word of God Is Our Life Manual! God Will Give Us HELP When We Need It!
God protects us from the enemy and gives us spiritual victory.
Deuteronomy 33:29. He is your protecting shield and your triumphant sword!
Psalm 28:7. “The Lord is my strength, my shield from every danger. I trust in Him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.”
God guides us by his Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 30:21. You will hear a voice say, “This is the way; turn around and walk here.”
God helps us to pray, even when we don’t know how or what to say.
Romans 8:26. The Holy Spirit helps us in our distress. For we don’t even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
Rx: A HELPING
HEART: God helps us through Jesus Christ His Son from a Virgin Birth an important foundational principle of the Christian faith. Jesus Christ, God’s Son, had to be free from the sinful nature passed on to all other human beings by Adam. Because Jesus was born of a woman, He was a human being; but as the Son of God, Jesus was born without any trace of human sin. Jesus is both fully human and fully divine. Because Jesus lived as a man, we know that he fully understands our experiences and struggles noted in Hebrews 4:15-16. Because He is God, He has the power and authority to deliver us from sin confirmed in Colossians 2:13-15. JESUS CHRIST IS OUR HELP AND ONLY HOPE. We can tell Jesus all our thoughts, feelings, and needs. He has been where we are now, and he has the ability to help. PRAISE GOD for the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus!

FATHER GOD, Thank You for Your word that saves us and teaches us how to live! Thank You Father for being a hiding place for us, preserving us from trouble. Thank You for giving us clear instructions on which way to go, counseling and protecting us with Your eye of love, in the Precious, Powerful, and Preeminent Name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. Amen.
