“Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So, you see how it is: In my mind, I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature, I am a slave to sin.” Romans 7:24-25 (NLT)

“For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.” 1 John 5:4-5 (NLT)
What is a victorious Christian life? What is the prescription for living a victorious Christian life, and do you have the prescription for living a victorious Christian life?
The victorious Christian life is the life that is lived, by FAITH. It is a moment-by-moment surrender to God. It is a life that is rooted and grounded in faith in Jesus Christ. There are many Christians who know intellectually what the Word of God says about what is needed to live a victorious Christian life, however, many still struggle in being victorious. First, in order to live the Christian life, you must be a Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and have accepted Him as personal Lord and Savior!
Working as a Registered Nurse for over 35 years in various areas of nursing, God has used these experiences as well as my own life and ministry encounters, to have a greater understating of human behavior and the interrelatedness of the mind, body, and spirit. These experiences have also assisted me in understanding how the physical, emotional, issues of life correlate with the spiritual truths about life, relationships, and the love of God. Many patients receive excellent treatment physically; however, the emotional or spiritual issues that often precipitate the physical conditions was often not dealt causing an ongoing cycle of recurring problems.
This reminded me of the struggle to live a victorious Christian life and what is needed to be victorious in all areas of our lives. It is a moment-by-moment surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ, understanding that a living a victorious Christian life is a life triumphing over “everything in the world: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life” as noted in 1 John 2:16.
I also like the way the Message Bible Version says it in 1 John 2:15-17. “Don’t love the world’s ways. Don’t love the world’s goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father. Practically everything that goes on in the world wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, and wanting is on the way out, but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity.”
We have the Living Word, Jesus Christ, and the Written Word, the Bible, that can satisfy our hungry and thirsty souls!

We Have Prescriptions For Living A Victorious Christian Life. We have the Peace of God!
John 14:27. “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. (NLT) It is the conquering of fear, knowing God’s peace
We have the prescription for living a Victorious Christian Life. The Answer is in the Lord Jesus Christ
We can persevere through trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword because we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:35, 37: “Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” (NLT)
We have the assurance that the Victorious Christian Life naturally leads to a defeat of death itself.
1 Corinthians 15:56: “For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (NLT)
Revelation 21:5 “All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.” (NLT)
I need not say how much I love the Apostle Paul’s writings! He gives us a profound clear prescription for victorious and godly living found in Romans Chapter 12! He encourages us as Believers in Christ to “rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, and be constant in prayer.” Let’s look carefully and his biblical prescription for a victorious Christian life. He says for us to:
To Rejoice In HOPE: is to have that indefatigable assurance in the Word of God as absolute TRUTH! It is in the knowing that God’s Word is true and that He cannot lie. This will give us as Believers in Christ the hope of glory that is secured for us in heavenly places for the eternal ages to come. Our hope is built on nothing less than trusting in the Cross of Christ and taking God at His Word.
To Be Patient In TRIBULATION: is to know and accept that in this world we will have tribulation, and STOP murmuring and wait patiently in our suffering. Be of good cheer, resting in God’s His strength is sufficient to see us through every difficult situation of life because He has already overcome sin and death! We can rejoice because we are united with Him and His victory.
To Be Constant In PRAYER: is to recognize that prayer is one of the chief weapons of the spiritual warfare in which all Christians are engaged. As saints of God we should all be instant in prayer, constantly lifting our hearts and voice to the Lord in prayers of thanks and praise and intercession and requests, and laying them before the throne of God’s grace in the name of JESUS – knowing that greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.
