The Heartbeat of GOD’S FAVOR

March 20, 2022

“These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.” Isaiah 66:2

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9

In our Tuesday and Friday morning prayer group, we often tease one of the ladies (Sister Ann) because when she talks about God and His faithfulness toward her, it sounds as if she is God’s favorite daughter.  We have to lovingly remind her that God loves us just as much as He loves her.  I have been on the prayer line with her and others for at least 7 years and she has not changed in the way she talked about her love for God and His faithfulness toward her.

How does God demonstrate Himself to you?  How would you describe it?  I am so grateful that He does not rank us in any manner of importance, nor is His favor something we must compete with one another to earn. We serve a just God, and He is not limited in His love, or His faithfulness.

There is only one way we can come to Him and that is through faith in Jesus Christ which puts us in positions for His Favor. It is not our own righteousness that earns us favor; we are declared righteous through the cleansing of our sins by the blood of Christ,” as noted in 2 Corinthians 5:21.

After consulting the ‘thesaurus’ an acceptable definition is “displayed pleasure.”  It is tangible evidence that we have God’s approval, and He delights in us! Also, in the same way, God demonstrates His favor to the ones who delight in, connect with, and honor HIM!  The Prophet Isaiah says in Isaiah 66:2; “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at My Word.”

Let’s be clear, God’s Word does not say that having God’s favor means that you will be prosperous or healthy nor does it mean you will have an easy life, never having difficulties.

God’s favor often comes with added duties and responsibilities, as well as more difficult challenges.  Many people in the Bible who had God’s favor also suffered hardship.  Just ask the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 6:4, “In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.” (NLT)  We must live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us, and no one will find fault with our ministry.

A FAVORED HEART Psalm 37:23. “A person’s steps are directed by the LORD, and the LORD delights in his way. God seeks out those who love Him and love His commands so that He can bless, guide, and protect them.” (GW)

FATHER GOD: Thank You for Your Favor!  Help us to never seek favor from the world. Help us to only seek YOU! In seeking You we find life and receive favor from You, in the Precious, Powerful and Preeminent Name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, Amen.
