The Heartbeat Of A Godly Attitude

October 24, 2021

“Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked him. “Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you respond in the right way. But if you refuse to respond correctly, then watch out! Sin is waiting to attack and destroy you, and you must subdue it.”   Genesis 4:6-7.   NLT

Have you ever responded with the wrong ATTITUDE and immediately you wanted to take it all back.  Although it was the truth, however, it was spoken in the wrong way.  God has never told us not to speak the truth; however, the Word of God admonishes us to speak the truth in LOVE! “If your sinful nature controls your mind, there is death. But if the Holy Spirit controls your mind, there is life and peace.”   Romans 8:6.  NLT

ATTITUDE for me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, more important than Circumstances, Education, Money, Failures, or Success.  It is also more than what other people think, say, or do. Yes, Attitude is important! It is more important than intellect, appearance, or your spiritual gift(s). A bad Attitude can disrupt, break up a relationship, destroy a home, a church, make, or break a business.   Guess what, we are in charge of our Attitudes. You have a choice every day regarding the Attitude you will embrace in every situation!  I believe this saying, “life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.

One of the ways our Attitude is displayed is by whining, grumbling, and complaining! The Greek word translated as “complainer” means literally “one who is discontented with his lot in life.”  Grumblers and Complainers are first cousins.  Nothing is ever right, and they never see the good in anything and is certainly not a Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and, in fact, is detrimental to the peace, joy, and patience that come from the Spirit. For the Christian, grumbling, and complaining are destructive and debilitating, and personally only serve to make our witness to the world more problematic. Who, for instance, would be attracted to a religion whose enthusiasts are dissatisfied with life and one who continually grumble and complain! Complaining shows a lack of appreciation for what God has given us. So, what kind of Attitude does God wants us to have? God was very clear in His Word how we are to respond to others as Christians! God reminds us in several ways how we are to respond!

We Must Respond With An Attitude Of:

LOVE! An Attitude of  Love sums up many aspects of a good attitude toward others. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.  Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

HUMILITY An Attitude of Humility will help us to be more like Christ. Philippians 4:4-6. Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again-rejoice! Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all he has done.

FAITH!  An Attitude of Faith in God has many positive aspects: joy in every circumstance, dependence on God in prayer rather than worrying, and thankfulness, no matter what. Your Attitude should be the same as that of Christ. Jesus had Philippians 2:5-8. He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave. And in human form, He obediently humbled Himself even further by dying a criminal’s death on a cross.

RX: A PURE ♥️ HEART Philippians 2:5. Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. When we give God control over our lives, He gives us His attitude and His ways. You have a choice! You can make a decision to have the same attitude as Christ, or you can have a bad attitude and derail your destiny! Haughtiness goes before destruction!

FATHER GOD: Thank You for being our Father!  Help us as Your children to be good representatives of You! Quieten our hearts and spirits to sit with You Father and allow You to speak to us.  Father help us to get to KNOW You so we can hear You better, in the Precious, Powerful, and Preeminent Name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, Amen!
