“The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Psalm 18:2. (ESV)
The psalms are replete with statements similar to “God is the Rock of my salvation,” and for good reason. Caves and rocky crevices were often David’s refuge when he was running from Saul, who sought to kill him noted in (1 Samuel 24:3), yet David’s language reveals where he truly placed his hope. He did not put it in mountains or great city fortresses, but in God, the Creator of heaven and earth.
Reading Psalm 18:2 was a reminder of a song by a Praise and Worship Leader, Stephen Hurd “Lead Me To The Rock.” King David called God his “Rock.” Whenever David found his security, his family, or his Reputation under attack, he ran to the cleft of the Rock and found a never-failing source of aid and protection.
️What has failed you in your life? The job you planned to retire from. The spouse you trusted. Your world crumbled around you. Your health failed. Did you run to the “Rock”, or did you get angry with God and complained asking why did this happen to you? You can do as David did.
In the Word of God, a ROCK symbolizes the Invincible, the Immutable, and the Changeless Character of God. David cried out to the Lord from the depths of both his personal, spiritual, and career failures. He knew God David declares, “Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God: He is my mighty rock, my refuge” (Psalm 62:6–7). David knew that, ultimately, it was up to the God of the universe to hide him from danger, material objects being the avenue by which He chose to provide such protection. We can do as David did.
RX: A FAITHFUL 
HEART Proverbs 18:10. “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” (NKJV). The Lord Jehovah is the Lord Jesus Christ, and He is a strong tower. We can run into it and be completely safe. He saves His people from their sins. He is called Christ because He is the Anointed One. He is the Lord of our life and our salvation. The Lord Jesus Christ is our security and reminds us that no one can pluck us out of His hands. PRAISE GOD!
FATHER GOD: Thank You for being our Spiritual Rock, the Rock of our salvation a sure and eternal refuge, the foundation on which rests the hope of heaven, in the Precious, Powerful, and Preeminent Name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, Amen!
