“The Lord isn’t slow to do what he promised, as some people think. Rather, he is patient for your sake. He doesn’t want to destroy anyone but wants all people to have an opportunity to turn to him and change the way they think and act.”
2 Peter 3:9 (GW)

~ Some people love to claim the Promises of God and at the same time trying to avoid the conditions. If a promise comes with a condition, the condition must be completed so the promise can be fulfilled. God set the conditions and He is not going to change His Word.
~ There are over 8,000 promises of God in Scripture and with each promise, God pledges that something will (or will not) be done or given or come to pass. These Promises of God are unequivocal commitments made by God Himself. God is true to His Word – He cannot lie.
Because God is faithful, the recipients of the divine promises can have full assurance that what God has pledged will indeed be realized. We expect God to keep His Promise and He will; however, He expects us to keep our word as well. In fact, His Word reminds us in Proverbs 20:25, that it is dangerous to make a rash promise to God before counting the cost. In other words, don’t make a vow until you are sure of what you can do. Don’t publicly dedicate your life to God until you have thought it through. God does not want that kind of a sentimental decision. Sadly, there is too much of that today.
So what does God expect of us in regards to PROMISES?
~ Proverbs 20:25 ~ God expects us to keep our promises.
~ Genesis 12:1-7 ~ God expects us to respond in faith to his promises.
Some of God’s INCREDIBLE PROMISES
Romans 1:16–17 – God promised salvation to all who believe in His Son There is no greater blessing than the free gift of God’s salvation, the beginning of a brand-new existence.
Romans 8:28 – God promised that all things will work out for good for His children This is the broader picture that keeps us from being dismayed by present circumstances.
2 Corinthians 1:3–4. God promised comfort in our trials). He has a plan, and one day we will be able to share the comfort we receive.
Ephesians 1:3. God promised every spiritual blessing in Christ Whereas, in the Old Testament, Israel had the promise of physical blessing, the church today has been promised spiritual blessings “in the heavenly realms.”
1 Peter 1:4. Our inheritance is reserved for us
Philippians 1:6. God promised to finish the work He started in us God does nothing in half measures. He started the work in us, and He will be sure to complete.
